The Hills Have Eyes!

The opening starts with the sound of war sirens. There are clips of planes bombing onto deserts and the explosion radius.  These clips look bleak and have had the colour drained out. Straight away we know the film is not going to be a happy chick flip. The atmosphere is very eerie and  suspicious.

We then cut a black screen with slightly faded white text. This shot address the audience about where the film is set and in what year ect. We then cut back to the old clips on the bombings. We see establishing shots of building being blown up. Then again cutting back to the text screen. After than we keep cutting to flash backs and articles in news papers about the story. Because of the text and background information we are given and the use of music we know the genre is going to be a horror.

We then cut to a black screen and the song California dreaming by the beastie boys. The shot slowly fades in and we see a establishing shot on a long road in a desert. A van towing a caravan quickly passes the camera and drives on. The contrapuntal music is not what we would expecting as the clips before suggests the horror genre.

We then cut to number of different shots of the family in the car. The family are arguing and all having ago at each other. Over all the first 1.30 give the classic representations a horror film.
